Stellar Blade came to Nintendo Switch 2 this week, and thanks to Digital Foundry, we have various technical details covering frame rate, resolution, and more.

Stellar Blade is one of the first games on the console to use frame generation, which is one of the things discussed here. We also have information about changes and cutbacks compared to the PS5 version.

Here’s the full roundup of tidbits:

– Switch 2 strips back environmental detail compared to PS5
– Pop-in is also more of a concern
– In some shots, the cutbacks are less apparent
– Details cut back more aggressively in larger scale shots
– Lighting cutbacks as well
– DLSS used on Switch 2 for a more stable presentation than PS5
– Switch 2 docked resolution is about 540p internally
– Uses FSR3 frame generation by default on Switch 2 to take 30 FPS input to 60 FPS
– Exploration usually better at hitting and holding 60 FPS for healthy periods
– This isn’t done as often during combat and cutscenes with dropped frames
– Extended dips don’t happen too often
– With frame generation off, the game looks basically identical
– With it off, internal docked resolution is about 648p
– You’ll get a frame rate of about 35-45 FPS with it off
– Handheld resolution is about 360p internally
– Performance is similar with handheld and docked modes
– In handheld mode with frame gen off, VRR helps with frame rate
